The Short Story

I am freelance photographer based out of Revelstoke, BC. Most of my time is spent snowboarding, biking, hiking or wandering aimlessly through the wilderness. I love the outdoors and the adventurous lifestyle the mountains and lakes have to offer. When I'm not out on the mountain or lake I'm planning my next trip.

The Long Story

Born and raised in London, Ontario, I was privileged to spend my teenage years on the shore of Lake Huron. My sense of adventure began at a young age and I began taking photos under the guidance of my grandfather, Gabriel Kney, developing black and white film in his basement darkroom. Not long after I was studying photojournalism at Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario and I soon realized I could use my camera as a way to travel and explore Canada and the world. Internships on the East Coast at the Halifax Chronicle Herald and at the Ottawa Citizen led me to a staff position in the heart of the Canadian Rockies at papers in Canmore, Banff and Jasper.

I immediately fell in love with the mountain lifestyle and took my camera everywhere I went: the ski hill, bike trails, hiking, camping and road trips. I started covering wildlife stories with park wardens, and my appreciation for wildlife and the mountains grew.

Fast forward a few years and I am based in Revelstoke, BC. After travelling for nearly three years throughout New Zealand, Australia, Myanmar, Finland and Iceland I am back in Canada and accepting assignments anywhere.

Some of the publications and companies that I have worked with include:

The Globe and Mail (Canada), Chatter Creek Mountain Lodges (Canada), Edmonton Journal (Canada), Calgary Herald (Canada), The Mercury (Tasmania, Aus), Bali Hai Resort & Spa (Western Australia), Cardrona Alpine Resort (New Zealand), Rockford Bar & Grill (Canada), Lake Louise Ski Area (Canada), Revelstoke Mountaineer (Canada), Revelstoke Mountain Resort (Canada), The Ottawa Citizen (Canada), Ski Trax Magazine (North America), NZ Skier Magazine (New Zealand).
